Tressa does Bournemouth Sports proud in Istanbul
In the very first match of the team event against Russia Tressa beat the European No 7 A. Rossikhina by a margin of 3 – 1. Later in the team event against Romania (Romania are champions in all the girls’ team events this year) Tressa (No 103 in the world rankings) met B. Szocs the World No 1. Although she lost in three straight the score in the 3rd, 14 – 16, demonstrates just how close she is to the world’s top players in technical and tactical areas. England finished in 10th position out of the top 16 in the team events and retain their position in the premier group for the next Euro Championships, a good performance. In the cadet doubles Tressa and Emily Bates reached the last 16.

In the cadet singles Tressa went out to one of the strong German players who later got to the last 16. She then went into the consolation event and in suitably purposeful and determined mood ended up a decisive winner. So decisive in fact that throughout the whole event she only dropped one end, winning both the semi and final 3 – 0. All in all an impressive first European Youths for Tressa.
